Every church has to plan for worship, and every church has cultural and theological leanings in the music it plays and sings. As a PCUSA congregation, Wayside is within the Reformed tradition of Christian expression that emphasizes God as Sovereign Lord, Christ as Head of the Church, and God’s Children as called to not only enjoy salvation, but to find purpose and faithfulness in mission and service. These themes and more are written into every worship experience Wayside offers whether in traditional or contemporary styles. Over the summer of Wayside’s blended worship, this new series will explore the music, hymns, and spiritual songs of the church that help worshipers engage the liturgy and move individuals and the collective body from the call to worship to the benediction and sending to serve.
